WHO IS ELIGIBLE? This contest is open to all Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 or who shall attain the age of 18 on or before the 31st day of December, 2015.

Topic:

In not more than 2000 words, critique the book entitled ‘The Pensmith: A Compendium of Lucid Essays’ written by Mr Chukwunonso Daniel Ogbe.

How to participate in the contest

Order for a copy of the book entitled ‘The Pensmith: A Compendium of Lucid Essays’ from the Head Office of Chudanog Publishers Limited at No. 54 Nwobodonnam Street, Maryland Layout, Enugu, Enugu State, with the sum of N 1, 000.00 (One Thousand Naira Only).

What is expected of you in the essay contest?

Upon obtaining a copy of the book entitled ‘The Pensmith: A Compendium of Lucid Essays,’ you are expected to read and critique the book thoroughly. Point out the deficiencies in the book, be it in terms of grammatical errors, incoherent arguments and manner of referencing, among others. What did the author get right in the book and what did he get wrong? You are expected to critique the book in a dispassionate and professional manner.

Other Rules Guiding the Contest

Timeframe: The essay contest is to run from the 1st of July 2015 to the 31st of December 2015.

Essay should not be less than 1000 words, and should not be more than 2000 words excluding cover page.

Essay font specification should be 12 font size, 1.5 lines spacing, Times New Roman font and justified.

Note: It is advised that all entrants adhere strictly to the rules guiding the contest.

Essay should have a cover page, containing the following information:

1.     Name of the entrant

2.     Date of birth

3.     Email

4.     Contact number

5.     Contact address

6.     Word count of essay submitted
REWARD OFFERED:
1st Prize N 25,000.00 (Twenty-five Thousand Naira) and certificate of merit

2nd Prize N 15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira) and certificate of merit
3rd Prize N 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) and certificate of merit
10 Honorable Mentions to be awarded certificate of merit.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:  Building Entrepreneurs Today (BET) programme is one of Diamond Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives aimed at generating interest in entrepreneurship. Since 2010, we have partnered with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan Atlantic University in training and nurturing micro, small and medium scale businesses under the BET programme.

Currently in its fourth season, the BET programme is an annual capacity building and business education project which involves the training of fifty (50) budding entrepreneurs over a period of six (6) months after which the top five (5) entrepreneurs are awarded Three Million Naira (N 3,000,000) grants to take their businesses to the next level. This annual initiative has contributed immensely to the pool of skilled small and medium scale entrepreneurs as well as enduring wealth creation in the country.

According to the telecoms company, the competition is aimed at encouraging and celebrating valuable innovation in the Nigerian market and is awarded in two categories. The 2015 AfriAspire Fellowship Program for Young Nigerians

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: AfriAspire Fellowship Program is an Initiative built around year-long social innovation projects that are implemented by selected passionate youths in Nigeria and supported by funders and private partners.
Fellows implement projects that can solve new or existing problems in a Public Primary School in their various communities. They are provided training and mentoring to help them grow. In this way, fellows develop their leadership skills, enhance their understanding of youth development, and build their non-profit management skills.
In addition to a training program for acquiring leadership qualifications, the fellows receive intensive support for external grant acquisition to fund their projects. In a step-by-step process, the fellows develop their own profile and visibility in their respective fields of interest.
Following successful completion of their projects, fellows remain involved with the Fellowship through the Alumni Program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
• Must reside in South West Nigerian States (Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti)
• Application from youths living outside these locations will not be accepted
• Be between ages 18- 30 years
• Have exceptional interpersonal skills and leadership skills
• Good command of English
• Sufficient experience and skill to manage a team of volunteers.
• Be willing to implement Projects that would improve a Primary School in your community
